The majestic Rolling Hills Casino features
70,000 square feet of gaming excitement, three restaurants, a lounge,
and video arcade. The casino is attached to our Corning hotel.
The opportunity to catch sportfish is year-round;
however, the best angling experiences are in the spring and fall.
The spring season begins the last day of April with the opening
of upland trout season in the streams throughout Tehama County.
The best time for shad in the Sacramento River is May and June.
The fall salmon run is the largest from October through November.
Also available through the year are small mouth bass, black bass,
crappie, bluegill, catfish and sturgeon.
The hunting season traditionally begins
with the 30-day dove season on or about September first each year.
Deer season begins about the third week in September, with the Eastern
Tehama County split into an early and late season (2 weeks each);
and Western Tehama County season overlapping 4-5 weeks. The quail
season is generally 4 months from August through January, while
duck and geese season generally is from mid-October through mid-January.
The pheasant season takes place from the second week of November
through the first week of December. Boar hunting is available in
Tehama wildlife areas by permit only (contact the California Department
of Fish and Game) and in private reserves and hunting clubs. The
spring and fall wild turkey season takes place 30 days each from
the end of March through the end of April and during the month of
November.
The Corning Museum is located at 1110 Solano
Street. It is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
There is no admission charge, but donations are always welcome.
The Corning Museum Association was created in January of 1990 by
a group of people interested in preserving the history of the community
and the area. Its purpose is to preserve and exhibit artifacts that
represent the cultural heritage of Corning and Tehama County specifically
and Northern California in general. The Association collects and
displays historical items and raises money for maintenance and operation
by soliciting memberships and donations from the public.
